Hey-o! Today is going to be a little bit longer blog! So get comfy! We are going to talk about how much more dogs hear and smell so owners can appreciate us even more! First we will be talking about our nose. Not only are our dog noses up to 100 million more sensitive than humans noses, but they can also smell people and things from 20km away. Of course, it depends on the air and breeze and things like that. We researched that dogs can since emotions, when our owners are sad, mad, and angry. Not only can we smell that, I am dying for the half baked potato in my owners fridge! Anyways, once you put a bowl down for your dog, have you noticed that he or she smells it first? Well we do! We like to smell our food first, it makes us tastes it more and know what we have coming! And, it attracts us to our food! Now we will be talking about our ears! Get ready! Our ears comes in many different shapes and sizes. Our since of hearing it about four times more sensitive than people, and humans hear about 20 feet away while we hear about 80 feet away! We can hear higher frequency sounds. We may even recognize the sound of our owner’s car! We just have to put our hearing aids on!! Sound is caused by air vibrations. If it wasn’t for that, than we could not hear much! We hear better than humans because the way our ears are designed, our ears are made of a cup to move sound in; sort of like a way a human can put their hand into a cup shape and put it up to their ears to hear better. The sound travels to our and our owners better this way.
